Meet Justine (left) and Betty (right). Both of these beautiful women have been caretakers at Shiloh for quite some time. They are both the “mothers” of these children. Residing at the orphanage, they work 24/7 caring for them. They have continued to do so through months of not being paid anything. I don’t know a single person in the US, myself included that would stay and work in those conditions, but these two amazing women have. They love Pastor Josh, his wife, Esther, and their children. They love and care for all of the orphaned children as their own. I love them very much. They are a beautiful example of what sacrifice and working as unto to the Lord looks like.
Since launching Actions Speak Louder, we have been able to pay them all the salary that was owed to them! However, we are looking for someone to partner with us to ensure they never go without a salary again. Betty uses some of her salary to pay for her son, Daniel’s, school tuition. There is no public schooling in Uganda. If Betty goes without pay, Daniel doesn’t get to go and learn. It’s a sad cycle that I would love to help break.
Betty and Justine’s salaries are about $50/month each. This is part of what Actions Speak Louder is trying to raise. Our goal is to pay them every month so they are able to put away a little money and have their needs met instead of working for free. Will you or someone you know be willing to donate to ensure neither of them goes without pay? Please feel free to comment or contact me with any questions you may have. Thanks for reading!
